2026 PRICE SNAPSHOT
How much should you budget for marble in a Dubai apartment?
Start with three separate numbers: the stone, the laying/fabrication, and the final floor finishing. Renovation preparation is a fourth cost when the existing apartment is not ready for new marble.
Current Dubai market guides put standard material around AED 60–120/m², regional and mid-range imported stone around AED 100–250/m², and premium Italian marble around AED 350–900+/m². Named Italian white stones then separate further by slab grade, thickness, veining and whether you need book-matched or vein-matched cutting.
For a practical cross-check, Arifeen Marble's tile installation cost UAE guide places natural-stone supply-and-install around AED 120–400/m² before some premium selections and specialist finishing. In apartment renovation, the lowest headline rate is rarely the final figure because lift access, protection, cutting, demolition and floor correction can all become separate lines.
| Budget line | 2026 planning range | What moves it upward |
|---|---|---|
| Standard marble material | AED 60–120/m² | Grade, thickness, finish and batch consistency |
| Mid-range / regional / Turkish / Greek material | AED 100–250/m² | Named quarry, larger slabs and cleaner selection |
| Premium Italian material | AED 350–900+/m² | Carrara grade, Statuario/Calacatta rarity, slab size and veining |
| Specialist laying labour | About AED 60–200/m² | Large format, bookmatching, cuts and difficult access |
| New-floor finishing | AED 80–150/m² | Grinding stages, polishing, crystallisation and sealing |
| Old floor removal | AED 50+/m² | Bond strength, disposal route and building restrictions |
| Levelling / screeding | AED 20–40/m² | How far the existing substrate is out of level |
Budget ranges are planning figures, not fixed quotations. Your measured area, stone batch, thickness, design and building access need to be priced together.
THE FAST DECISION
Which marble is best for your apartment priority?
If you tell us whether you care most about a white look, easy visual maintenance, dramatic veining or budget control, the shortlist becomes much smaller.
| Your priority | Our starting shortlist | Why | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balanced white luxury | Carrara | Classic soft-grey veining and the most approachable named Italian option | Etching, visible dirt on bright floors and batch variation |
| Warm, forgiving whole-apartment floor | Crema Marfil / regional cream | Neutral tone hides day-to-day dust and works with timber, brass and warm joinery | Fissures, fossils, shade variation and commercial-vs-premium grade |
| Clean white mid-range look | Volakas / selected Greek white | Usually calmer and less expensive than top Italian statement slabs | Purple-grey vein variation and batch matching |
| High-impact feature area | Calacatta | Bold grey or gold veining turns the slab into the design | Premium price, wastage and vein planning |
| Bright, architectural focal point | Statuario | Stronger white field with graphic grey movement | High grade cost and limited matching availability |
| Dark contrast | Emperador / Nero Marquina / selected grey stone | Strong contrast for borders, walls and smaller areas | Water marks, scratches and overly dark full-floor schemes |
A name is only a shortlist. We still inspect the actual slab or tile batch before approving it for the room.
WHITE ITALIAN MARBLE
Carrara, Calacatta and Statuario are not interchangeable
All three can create a white marble apartment, but their visual intensity and 2026 Dubai price bands are very different.
Carrara normally has a softer white-to-grey field with finer, more frequent veining. It is the first stone we would price when you want genuine Italian marble across a larger living area without paying Calacatta or Statuario money everywhere.
Calacatta is selected for fewer, bolder veins and a brighter statement. Statuario is also prized for a bright white background and strong grey movement; both deserve slab-by-slab layout planning because a badly placed vein can waste the reason you paid for the stone in the first place.
| Stone | Material-only Dubai guide | Supply + install guide | Best apartment use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carrara | AED 350–600/m² | AED 450–760/m² before final finishing | Living/dining floors, bathrooms, calm feature walls |
| Statuario | AED 500–800/m² | AED 620–980/m² before final finishing | Feature walls, premium living rooms, selected bathrooms |
| Calacatta | AED 500–900+/m² | AED 620–1,100+/m² before final finishing | Statement floors, islands, wall panels and focal zones |
The premium is not just “white colour.” Quarry selection, background clarity, veining, slab dimensions, defects, yield and matching all influence the invoice.
WARM & PRACTICAL
Cream, beige and travertine tones often work better across an entire apartment
A pale warm floor can be more forgiving than a bright white surface when your home has children, frequent guests, timber joinery or strong afternoon light.
Crema Marfil is a classic warm Spanish selection commercially sold as marble. It gives you a quieter background than dramatic Italian whites and can make a large apartment feel cohesive without every furniture choice competing with a strong vein pattern.
If you are comparing beige marble, inspect the actual batch for tone rather than buying from a colour name. A filled and honed travertine marble look can suit softer, tactile interiors, while silver travertine works when you want stronger horizontal movement and cooler grey-brown variation.
| Warm stone direction | Indicative material band | Apartment strength | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regional cream / beige | About AED 100–200/m² | Good value, calm whole-floor palette | Batch tone and replacement stock |
| Crema Marfil / selected cream imports | About AED 250–600/m² depending grade | Warm luxury without a highly graphic floor | Fissures, fossils, grade, resin and uniformity |
| Travertine / Turkish mid-range natural stone | About AED 120–250/m² in broad flooring guides | Textural, warmer and often softer visually | Filling quality, porosity, finish and sealing |
Crema Marfil is geologically a compact limestone despite the commercial marble name. Specify it by tested/application performance, not by marketing category alone.
DARK STONE
Use Emperador, Nero Marquina and grey stones as controlled contrast
Dark marble can look exceptional in a Dubai apartment, but an entire glossy dark floor can show dust, hard-water marks and fine scratching more readily than a mid-tone surface.
Emperador works especially well for borders, powder rooms, TV walls, lift-lobby-style entrances and combinations with cream stone. Nero Marquina creates stronger black-and-white contrast, so we normally sample it beside the apartment lighting before committing to a large area.
A grey-brown selection such as armani grey marble can bridge dark joinery and lighter flooring without the visual weight of a black floor. The key is not the label; inspect surface resin, natural fissures, shade consistency and how the finish behaves under your actual lighting.
QUALITY, NOT JUST NAME
“Highest quality marble” is a slab-selection question, not a one-word answer
Calacatta and Statuario can command premium prices, but a prestigious name does not automatically make every slab Grade A or suitable for your apartment application.
Natural Stone Institute guidance is useful here: there is no inherently “bad stone,” but there are inappropriate selections and unrealistic expectations. For us, quality means the exact batch has acceptable structural soundness, finish, thickness, colour range, resin or mesh treatment, dimensions and yield for the cutting plan.
Bright white stone often costs more because clean backgrounds, attractive vein spacing and large usable slabs are scarce. Rare black, blue, green and other exotic stones can also exceed white-marble pricing, so colour alone is not a reliable price hierarchy.
| What we inspect | Why it matters in an apartment |
|---|---|
| Slab/batch consistency | Open-plan floors expose shade changes immediately |
| Fissures, mesh and resin | Influences cutting yield and where pieces should be placed |
| Thickness and calibration | Affects levels, door clearances and finished alignment |
| Vein direction | Controls continuity through corridors and connected rooms |
| Replacement availability | Useful if a future tile is damaged |
| Finish sample | Polished and honed stone can look like different colours under the same light |
WHITE MARBLE APARTMENT DUBAI
For a white apartment, control the undertone before you control the vein
White marble is not one white. Some slabs read blue-grey, some warm ivory, and others have gold, taupe or violet movement that changes the room palette.
Bring cabinet, paint, timber and metal samples to the slab. A cool Carrara can fight a creamy wall paint, while a warm Calacatta vein may work beautifully with brass but clash with a blue-grey kitchen. Daylight also matters because Dubai apartments can have intense sun on one side and warm artificial light deeper inside.
We recommend photographing shortlisted slabs vertically and horizontally, then marking the intended cut directions before approval. If the floor runs through living, dining and corridor areas, continuity matters more than choosing the most dramatic individual slab in the warehouse.
- Use a quieter marble on large floors if furniture and artwork already carry strong patterns.
- Reserve bold bookmatching for walls or panels where the full mirrored pattern can actually be seen.
- Keep one or two spare cut pieces from the same batch for future apartment repairs.
- Check the sample both dry and under the finish you intend to specify.
ROOM-BY-ROOM
The best marble changes when the room changes
A living-room floor, shower wall, kitchen island and entrance threshold do not experience the same wear, water, chemicals or edge loading.
| Apartment area | Good starting direction | Finish / detail | Main risk to manage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living & dining | Carrara, cream stone, Volakas, selected Emperador | Polished or honed based on look | Tracked grit, furniture movement, large visible shade runs |
| Entrance / corridor | Dense, repeatable mid-tone stone | Durable finish plus good mats | Sand abrasion and concentrated traffic |
| Master bathroom | Carrara, selected cream/white marble | Honed/textured floor; polished/honed walls as suitable | Slip, water, cosmetics and acidic cleaners |
| Kitchen floor | Marble only if you accept maintenance | Honed can make wear less visually harsh | Food acids, oils and dropped objects |
| Feature wall | Calacatta, Statuario, Nero Marquina, dramatic slabs | Bookmatch/endmatch where the slab allows | Fabrication yield and visible joints |
| Balcony / exterior edge | Only stone proven suitable for the exposure | Exterior-compatible finish and fixing | Weathering, thermal movement and slip |
The same marble can be excellent on a wall and frustrating on a kitchen work surface. Application comes before prestige.
KITCHENS
If you want marble in the kitchen, decide how much patina you are willing to accept
True marble contains calcite and can etch from common food acids. A sealer helps with staining but does not make the surface acid-proof.
For an apartment floor, that sensitivity is manageable with pH-neutral cleaning and prompt spill care. On kitchen countertops, however, lemon, vinegar, tomato, coffee and repeated food preparation make the maintenance conversation much more important.
If the counter is part of the same renovation, compare the floor and worktop together instead of matching them from photographs. The published kitchen countertop installation cost dubai is a separate fabrication budget from floor laying, because sink cut-outs, edge profiles, reinforcement and installation are priced differently.
BATHROOMS & WET AREAS
Bathroom marble selection starts with finish and waterproofing, not just colour
Many marbles can work in bathrooms, but the stone finish, floor falls, waterproofing system, adhesive and cleaning routine determine whether the installation remains practical.
Our separate guide to bathroom marble tiles Dubai explains the wet-area build-up in detail. For the selection stage, we would normally keep highly polished stone off shower floors unless the tested slip performance is appropriate and choose smaller formats or a suitable textured/honed finish where traction is needed.
Use walls for the most dramatic veins because they stay visually cleaner and do not take foot traffic. A coordinated marble tray or vanity accessory can repeat the stone palette without forcing the same expensive slab into every surface.
| Bathroom element | Selection priority | Budget implication |
|---|---|---|
| Shower floor | Slip performance, drainage, format | More cuts, falls and waterproofing detail |
| Shower / feature wall | Vein layout and waterproof substrate | Large panels raise handling/fabrication cost |
| Vanity top | Stain/etch expectations and edge profile | Fabrication priced separately from wall tile |
| Dry bathroom floor | Appearance + easy cleaning | Often simpler than the shower zone |
DETAILS THAT COMPLETE THE APARTMENT
Coordinate stairs, thresholds and window details before the slabs are cut
Small architectural pieces can cause expensive re-ordering when they are left until after the main floor material has been allocated.
Where the property includes internal steps or duplex levels, our guide to install marble steps Dubai covers tread, riser, nosing and per-step pricing. Doorways and wet-area transitions may also need a custom marble threshold that matches floor levels and adjacent finishes.
If the renovation includes deeper window reveals, matching natural stone window sills can make the specification feel intentional. Allocate these pieces in the cutting schedule early, especially when the chosen marble has strong directional veining or limited spare slab area.
INSTALLATION & LOGISTICS
Apartment access can change the marble specification before installation starts
A slab that looks perfect in a warehouse still has to fit through the loading route, lift and apartment doorway, then be handled safely without damaging finished common areas.
For marble installation in dubai, we check lift dimensions, floor number, loading times, building permits, protection requirements, wet-cutting restrictions and where fabrication can take place. These items affect whether large panels are realistic or whether the design should be converted to smaller cut-to-size pieces.
If you are comparing teams across emirates, marble contracting sharjah may appear in your research, but compare the same written scope rather than the city name alone. A commercial raised floor is a different flooring system altogether; it should not be treated as an equivalent rate to bonded residential marble.
- 01
Measure the finished area
Record room dimensions, door levels, thresholds, skirting and all fixed joinery interfaces.
- 02
Approve slabs or one batch
Confirm shade, veining, defects, finish and enough quantity for wastage plus reserved details.
- 03
Create the cutting/layout plan
Set the vein direction and decide where full pieces, cuts and focal panels will land.
- 04
Prepare the substrate
Remove weak finishes, correct levels and repair the base before fixing expensive stone.
- 05
Install and finish
Use the specified adhesive/fixing method, then complete grinding, polishing and protection only after the floor is stable and ready.
BEFORE YOU DEMOLISH
If the apartment already has marble, check whether you actually need new stone
A dull or scratched existing floor is not automatically a reason to spend tens of thousands of dirhams on replacement marble.
Our guide to repair or replace marble floor UAE explains when restoration is financially and technically sensible. If the existing marble is bonded, structurally sound and still fits the renovation palette, grinding, honing and polishing can preserve the stone and avoid demolition.
Replacement makes more sense when the substrate is failing, large areas are debonded or shattered, levels must change, the layout needs major reconfiguration, or you simply want a different material. Overlaying new stone is not an automatic shortcut because door clearances, floor heights, movement and the condition of the existing surface still have to be checked.
| Existing condition | Usually investigate first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Dull, scratched, etched | Restoration | Surface damage may be removable without demolition |
| Stable but dated colour | Keep vs replace based on design | Technical condition may still be good |
| Repeated cracks / movement | Substrate diagnosis | New marble may crack again if movement remains |
| Large loose or shattered areas | Replacement scope | Bond failure and missing serviceable material can make restoration impractical |
WORKED BUDGETS
What 40 m² and 80 m² marble areas can cost before demolition and complex fabrication
These examples combine current material, specialist laying and a typical AED 80–150/m² finishing allowance. They are useful planning envelopes, not substitute quotations.
For material ordering, do not use the net room area as the purchase quantity. Straightforward layouts often need roughly 10% contingency, while diagonal layouts, strong vein matching, bookmatching, large slabs and many small rooms can require more.
| Specification | Installed + finished / m² | 40 m² example | 80 m² example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard commercial marble | AED 200–370 | AED 8,000–14,800 | AED 16,000–29,600 |
| Omani / regional cream | AED 250–460 | AED 10,000–18,400 | AED 20,000–36,800 |
| Turkish / Greek mid-range | AED 280–520 | AED 11,200–20,800 | AED 22,400–41,600 |
| Italian Carrara | AED 530–910 | AED 21,200–36,400 | AED 42,400–72,800 |
| Italian Statuario | AED 700–1,130 | AED 28,000–45,200 | AED 56,000–90,400 |
| Italian Calacatta | AED 700–1,250+ | AED 28,000–50,000+ | AED 56,000–100,000+ |
Add old-floor removal, levelling, skirting, thresholds, delivery, difficult tower access, premium sealers, oversized slabs and special bookmatching where applicable.
FINISH SELECTION
Polished and honed marble can change both appearance and maintenance expectations
The same slab can look brighter and more contrasty when polished, then softer and lighter when honed. Approve the finish on your actual stone before the full floor is processed.
| Finish | Visual effect | Where it works well | Customer expectation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polished | Reflective, deeper colour and stronger vein contrast | Living rooms, dry walls, formal spaces | Shows etching and fine wear more clearly under raking light |
| Honed | Matte/satin, softer colour and lower reflection | Contemporary floors, some bathrooms, high-use areas | Still stains/etches if the stone is susceptible; not automatically slip-proof |
| Textured / brushed | More tactile and visually relaxed | Selected wet/exterior applications when stone is suitable | Needs an application-specific sample and cleaning plan |
Finish selection does not replace slip testing or application suitability checks in wet areas.
LIFETIME COST
The cheapest marble to buy is not always the cheapest marble to live with
Dubai apartments collect fine tracked grit, and calcite-rich marble can be etched by acids, so care habits affect how long a premium finish stays premium.
Use pH-neutral stone cleaner, entrance mats and felt protection under furniture. Natural Stone Institute guidance also makes an important distinction: impregnating sealers increase stain resistance, but they do not make marble stain-proof and they do not stop acid etching.
For current local budgeting, routine marble floor polishing Dubai commonly plans around AED 15–50/m², while deeper restoration costs more. Published Dubai flooring guides put simple resealing around AED 5–10/m² and deeper new-floor or restoration finishing much higher, depending on the system.
| Care item | Planning frequency | Indicative cost |
|---|---|---|
| Daily/weekly cleaning | As needed | Household maintenance; use stone-safe products |
| Sealer review / reapplication | By stone, use and product performance | Simple published guide about AED 5–10/m²; premium systems vary |
| Maintenance polish | Often every few years, or by condition | About AED 15–50/m² for routine Dubai polishing |
| Deep restoration | Only when wear/damage requires it | Can rise to AED 80–150+/m² depending correction |
RENOVATION COORDINATION
Select the floor together with the other stone elements in the apartment
A good apartment palette repeats undertones without forcing every surface to be the same marble.
If your living floor is warm cream, a cooler kitchen worktop can still work when the cabinet and metal finishes bridge the two materials. Smaller pieces such as a tray, sill or threshold can repeat one accent vein without adding another full floor material.
We normally build the palette around three levels: the dominant floor, one secondary stone for bathrooms or feature walls, and one countertop/functional surface. That approach reduces visual noise and lets expensive slabs appear where you can actually see them.
- Keep dominant flooring calm when the apartment has patterned joinery, rugs or statement furniture.
- Use premium slabs vertically when you want to see the entire vein composition.
- Confirm countertop and floor undertones under the same lighting before fabrication.
- Reserve spare floor material instead of using every offcut decoratively.
BEFORE YOU PAY A DEPOSIT
Ask these questions before you approve the marble
The right quotation should make the actual stone, quantity, finish, installation scope and exclusions easy to understand.
| Ask | Why the answer matters |
|---|---|
| Is this the exact slab/batch I will receive? | Natural stone varies; a showroom sample is not enough for a large floor |
| What grade and thickness are being priced? | Lower grades can have more repairs, shade movement or yield loss |
| How much wastage is included? | Vein matching and room geometry can move the purchase quantity materially |
| Are cutting, delivery and tower handling included? | Apartment logistics can become separate charges |
| Is grinding/polishing/sealing included? | A laid marble floor is not necessarily a finished marble floor |
| Who owns spare pieces after completion? | Same-batch replacement stock has future value |
| What preparation is excluded? | Demolition and levelling can add thousands of dirhams |
If two quotes are far apart, compare these lines before assuming one contractor is simply cheaper.
RESEARCH & SOURCES
What this 2026 Dubai marble selection guide is based on
We separated technical stone guidance from commercial market pricing so a supplier price is not treated as a universal engineering rule.
Natural stone pricing changes by slab grade, size, thickness, availability, exchange/freight conditions and quantity. Treat every range here as a 2026 budgeting tool, then replace it with an itemised quotation against the exact slab or batch you approve.
